Job Description Overview:
ACT 4 SA is seeking a bilingual advocacy organizer (English-Spanish) who is highly motivated, creative and committed to public safety reform. Working under the supervision of the Advocacy Director, the community organizer will be directly responsible for developing relationships with community members and civic leaders to establish an active group of community leaders who can effectively advocate for criminal justice reform, the accountability of elected officials, and effective policy reforms across Texas. Additionally, the organizer will play a key role in planning and implementing campaign activities to exercise grassroots power, and developing a sustained and democratic organization.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Identify, recruit and develop grassroots leaders through campaign activities and ongoing training
- Organize and drive turnout to events including neighborhood meetings, press conferences, town halls, city council sessions, county commissioners court, trainings and webinars, and forums
- Assist in the execution of campaign strategy and tactical plans to advance campaign goals
- Conduct grassroots advocacy activities with community leaders including petition drives, letter writing campaigns, and meetings with local elected officials
- Maintain regular communications with the community and allies
- Map out key community and constituent targets; and identify and implement effective strategies to engage impacted communities
- Develop and maintain relationships with community allies
- Prepare written reports and compile statistical data as required
- Participate in power building activities in issue organizing and Get Out the Vote (GOTV), including but not limited to canvassing door-to-door, phone banking, and text banking, as needed
- Practice all safety protocols, including COVID-19 safety requirements

- Access to some form of transportation.
- Knowledge of San Antonio and/or political landscape a plus
- Bilingual in both Spanish and English REQUIRED
- Previous community organizer experience a plus
- Computer competency – Internet access required for this job; Experience in working with database systems (VAN or other) is a plus

***Salary: $42,000 for 35 hours per week of work.
